when it comes to stock footage

this is the place to be. Yes, there are many stock footage libraries in the world. However, many times they leave you wanting. I have literally spent thousands of dollars on such libraries only to find that there was too much variety and not enough focus. I don't mean camera focus, but rather topical focus. My take is that, if I am doing any type of production, there needs to be some smooth consistency throughout. Hence, I can not simply put a clip of JFK, some underwater stuff, a volcano or two and race cars together. It just won't tell a story, nor will it usually fit into any story to be told. One needs to ask, just how many times can you show a shuttle launch?

topical stock footage libraries

are exactly that. Topical. They deal with one topic at a time, but from many different points of view, angles and times. I believe that variety, within a specific topic will be far more beneficial and useful than a large variety of topics. Both concepts have their place. Both serve a purpose. However, if you are a niche videographer, you will appreciate topical stock footage for what it is. Heck, you might even come up with your own libraries for sale.

copyrights are becoming so important

again, due to the advent of the YouTube generation and philosophy. Could this be a relapse of the old Napster? Except that now it has to do with video instead of music? I believe strongly that we will see an "instant replay" of the legal issues of copyright. The problem is most amateur vloggers, videographers, artists, producers, directors - or whatever you want to call them, don't really understand the variations of copyright law, nor its consequences. Just another good reason to show that there is never enough royalty free stock footage available to help these "up and comers".

so what does royalty free really mean?

to one of these "up and comers" or simply to you? In this case, it means royalty free! Simply put, you can use these collections to your hearts content, as many times as you wish. The only thing in essence you are not allowed to do is take any portion of any library and use it as a re-sellable product by itself. More detail (and in plain english) you can read our licensing agreement here for a better understanding and to get yourself comfortable with such legalities prior to purchase.

affordability makes it easier to stay legal

when it comes to any type of video or film footage. One must realize it takes time and major effort to compile such collections. I have found many offerings are outright expensive for what they are. I suppose one could say this is somewhat subjective thinking. However, if the goal is to help the happenstance creative person stay legal, than one should not put a price point entry barrier in the way. The goal here is to offer a good quantity, with quality, collection that is useful with a fair and affordable value. Very soon, (and if you are reading this after it already happened, forgive me for not updating this) many individual clips will be offered on a clip by clip basis via our sister site at www.frameclip.com. Check it out. If its not open yet, stay tuned.
