| Monsoon 2007 - Tucson, AZ |
2007 was a very powerful Monsoon season in Tucson, AZ. The images shown in this gallery were taken in one session during one of the best and also last decent storms. This session lasted about 2 hours. The location was great as the storm was all around me with clear skies above my head. As darkness set in it did get somewhat precarious as I could no longer clearly see the patterns of the storm and their changes. One of the things about such storms is; they are very radical and yes, somtimes very unpredictable. One never knows what can happen next. I have seen storms change direction in the blink of an eye. It makes for some interesting experiences in such cases to say the least. At the beginning I was mainly shooting westward. As time progressed I started shooting northwest to get some of the mountain silhouette shots. Not realizing that a storm was building rapidly behind me, it was definitely time to go. I took one last glance towards the east and and southeast. I was hoping that the rain would stay at bay, but didn't get so lucky. Driving home towards the northeast side, I experienced the power of such lightning as a bolt struck maybe 30 feet in front of my car. The thunder clap was amazing and instant. Huh, what did you say? I can't hear you. All images here were shot with a Canon Rebel XTi in B (Bulb) mode at high resolution. The detail really comes out in the full sized raw images. Images are for sale via VaderVideo on eBay when applicable. Check to see if they are listed along with many other imagery products. Some of my sponsors and in some cases good information about photography, videography and how to's.
